TSATSAS bags and accessories are handcrafted in Germany. The label was established in 2012 by Esther Schulze-Tsatsas and Dimitrios Tsatsas, an architect and an industrial designer respectively. Dimitrios’ parents had a leather workshop in Offenbach am Main, just outside Frankfurt, for more than 30 years, producing high-quality bags. He spent a lot of time there growing up and was always fascinated when single bits of leather were somehow combined to create something new. “I had the opportunity to see things grow and how they grow”, he remembers.

Although very much influenced by this traditional way of working, Dimitrios soon came to find the repertoire in classical craftwork too limited. He studied Industrial Design and worked as a creative director in the field of design for ten years. Esther Schulze-Tsatsas studied Architecture and was in charge of producing and implementing concepts for major design events.

After several years of working on bags for themselves and friends, the couple decided to start their own business by combining the art of leather craftsmanship with contemporary styles, basically returning to their family roots. Through an intensive analysis of fashion and art, the brand has developed a real feel for the design vocabulary of our times. In their own words, “we don’t think in seasons, and we don’t think in collections. We create independent objects and sometimes we work for years until we’re happy with the result.”
