   Dominique Fiat gallery is pleased to present the last photographic series VERSOS by Philippe Gronon. This series consists of the backs of paintings from the Centre Pompidou (Paris) and the Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain (Nice). Once turned over, a framed work of art unveils something unexpected. The series starts from the mere sighting of this hidden face. The backs of canvases are scarcely ever visible. Through the photographic lens, they paradoxically appear as abstract objects.
   Philippe Gronon captures meticulous details with a studio camera and enlarges each print to the exact scale of the canvas. His photographs reproduce precisely every trace of use, mark and label left by recurrent handlings
and the passage of time. His recent solo show at Yossi Milo gallery, New York, has been welcomed by critics. Philippe Gronon has exhibited in solo shows at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (1997), Mamco Geneva (2003) and in group exhibitions including Centre Pompidou (2006 and 2007) and La Force de l’Art at Grand Palais (2006). His work is part of public collections of Centre Pompidou, Mamco, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Fond National d’Art Contemporain, Musée d’Art Moderne et d’Art Contemporain de Nice.
