Robert Montgomery was born in Scotland in 1972. He studied at the Edinburgh College of Art and, later, in the core program at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. He has lived in London since 1999. Poetic texts are at the basis of his work; he specializes in billboard pieces, light pieces, ‘fire poems,’ woodcut pieces and watercolours. He has built major outdoor light installations on the site of the old US Air Force base at Tempelhof in Berlin, and in the old imperial port city of Kochi-Muziris in India (for the 2012 Kochi-Muziris Biennale).
