Adored for his delicately handcrafted shoes with the most-wanted signature red soles, Christian Louboutin has become the personification of cult sexiness and luxury. Since the debut of his career in 1991, the French designer has played with both his imagination and materials to create extraordinary shoe creations featuring the most exquisite embellishments, beads, feathers and skins which have habitually walked on the red-carpet scene. Today, the world is presented with the first namesake book dedicated to Christian Louboutin, published by Rizolli showcasing the extravagant world of this extraordinary designer. The book highlights the wide range of his couture creations, and features a thematic interview that covers the designer’s life, inspirations, travels and opinions presenting the man behind the famous brand.
Alongside photographs taken from Louboutin’s personal archive, the book also features ‘spectacular new photography by David Lynch and Philippe Garcia which captures Louboutin’s artistic sensibilities in vivid detail’. The book has been edited by Christian Louboutin himself and features a momentous foreword by John Malkovich notably stating;
>> One of the most rare and attractive qualities in an artist is when he has a love of work: love of creation, love of invention, love of imagination, and, of course, love of detail. All of these qualities are in abundance in the work of Christian Louboutin. <<
Yet, the retrospective of the iconic designer does not end here. Following the publication by Rizolli, the DESIGN MUSEUM in London,UK, will host a celebratory exhibition presenting the designer’s artistic personality and creative approach through a selection of his most distinguished shoe collections as well as a range of men’s’ shoes and handbags. A dramatic display environment will be created to enforce the exhibits and convey the concepts of the cabaret, fairy-tale, architecture, film and travel that have so influenced the timeless designer.
