Of all the seasons of the year, summer is the most mystical one, the most powerful, since during summer we forget our everyday problems and get in touch with our bodies that are often ignored during wintertime.  Summer is sensuality, summer is passion, summer is the heat and the excitement that doesn’t let us sleep at night.  Summer is, above all, a state of mind, where life seems a little more interesting, a step closer to the ideal.  The Greek word for Summer is Theros and has to do with the summer harvest time. After all, summer is the perfect period to look behind and taste the fruits of what we have ''planted'' during autumn, winter and spring.  Such is the power of summer that many consider it to be the true end of the year, which begins with September instead of January. Greek fashion designer  Dimitris Petrou was all inspired by the golden wheat fields for this year’s summer collection, which was called Theros.  Dimitris tried to transmit with his clothes this particular summer feeling that makes us all crazy every year at this time, with some excellent results. Dimitris Petrou is quite known for his shows since they always have this fame of being something more than simple fashion events. This time Dimitris chose Thission Theater (Michail Marmarinos Arts Theater) for the presentation of Theros S/S 2011 collection, in a closed event for only 150 guests.  The night begun with some Bombay Sapphire welcome drinks at the foyer of the theatre, while goodie bags sponsored by Max Factor were placed at the guests’ seats. Michail Tsakountis, a brilliant Greek painter, was responsible for the cover of the invitation booklet, a collector’s item edited by Angelos Pantelides. 

The show started with some amazing choreography by Apostolia Papadamaki, where dancers Ioannis Emmanouilidis and Maria Lampropoulou gave life to Michail Tsakountis’ painting.  Talented make-up artist Giannis Marketakis was in charge of the make-up, using Max Factor products, Dimitris Sarantou took care of models’ hairstyling and Manos Jojos did an excellent job as fashion director.  Sophia Alexiadou’s work on lighting was inspired by the color of a summer wheat field and 2D duo brought the feeling of this field on stage, under the guidance of re-known set designer Yorgos Asimakopoulos and the artistic diligence of Yorgos Nanouris.

Dimitris Petrou showed a collection where clothes underlined summer’s sense of adventure and play.  More than 30 boys and girls walked through the catwalk- stage like an army of modern wheat harvesters, under the music of Amateur Boyz and Thanassis Tsimpinis’ video art.  Silk, linen, leather, suede and cotton in the colors of tabac, brown and navy blue gave form to maxi dresses, shorts, skirts and trousers. As it was expected, Theros collection was received with great enthusiasm and the designer was applauded by an ecstatic fashion crowd. Dimitris Petrou demonstrated once more his excellent skills, creating the best armor for our big summer adventures, in a perfect mix of urban sleekness and loose sexiness. What more could we ask for?
