Mustafa Sabbagh, with an extraordinary career as a photographer behind him, questions aesthetically the boundaries of the skin in a journey for the search of intimacy. Naked bodies, hidden and revealed parts, scars, different skin tones, faces hidden behind masks, the hair as the body’s quiet companion, cloth marks, fashion and its illusions, forgotten landscapes, the nakedness of nature, all of them form part of this very particular celebration.
“About skin” is a very personal book that borrows the language of contemporary fashion photography, always maintaining a very interesting balance between the obvious and the implied, the known and the unknown. Mustafa Sabbagh has created an interesting mix of juxtapositions, from the loneliness of an empty beach to a sensual pose and from the proximity of the strangers to the professionalism of the models, which functions surprisingly well. Those of you visiting Italy should not miss the launch night of “About skin” this Friday (22/10) at Vice Italia headquarters in via Giacomo Watt 32, Milan. Your skin will definitely love it!
