Who said that only humans are lazy? Laikingland has brought to us the first Lazy Chair! And don’t you confuse Lazy Chair with La-Z-Boy! These two chairs have nothing in common; we first had a glimpse into this clever concept chair at Ventura Lambrate in Milan, during Milan Design Week 2010. The chair was so lazy that it could barely keep itself up! (video here!). So don’t you even think of purchasing this chair to sit on it, because chances have it that within seconds of pulling the lever you and your Lazy Chair will be flat down on the ground! You could of course purchase it to entertain yourself and your loved ones! We have to admit that despite its laziness this chair was a crowd pleaser at the exhibition in Ventura Lambrate.
Some months later, Laikingland is back with the Miniature Lazy Chair; the miniature version byFresh West is a 1:6 scale version of the classic collapsible Lazy Chair. A push of the lever and the chair is so lazy that it collapses. After a few moments of being flat down on the ground, and once it has rested itself, the chair rights itself in a random, human-like manner.
“The product development of the Miniature Lazy Chair emphasizes a collaborative working style and shared interests in movement, craftsmanship and playfulness between Laikingland and Fresh West.” Furthermore, if you missed out on the first presentation of the Lazy Chair at Ventura Lambrate in Milan, you can always catch up and see the Lazy Chair as well as other beautifully crafted kinetic objects by Laikingland at London Design Festival, September 2010.
