Not far from the mayor of Lille and its belfry, a former railway built in 1858  reopened its doors on March 14, 2009. Near Coffee Bugatti, opposite the Parc Jean-Baptiste Lebas, a shy brick gable wall has been covered with fluorescent tubes 90 cm long. They indicate: Gare Saint Sauveur.

Installed on an industrial wasteland of a few hectares, spreading to subway stations and Grand Palais Porte de Valenciennes, the location of the future cultural venue was the object of all covetousness. Intended for future development of the business district Euralille, the field finally returned to culture.
The Mairie de Lille in making this project a symbol of its cultural policy, alongside Martine Aubry, Didier Fusillier, also director of Lille 3000, beyond the dreams of success of the Tri Postal and houses Folie. He believes the Gare Saint-Sauveur must be "a meeting place where people can take the time to stop." Multicultural, Lille wants to give its people the opportunity to invite where the hospitality is evident.
Gare Saint-Sauveur proposes to bring together artists and people: a new cultural center that promotes flexibility and accessibility. In the yard of floor used to play hopscotch or soccer. Cushions sand act of bleachers for events outside.

The interior is friendly to the honor. In Hall A, hosting a beer and a movie theater (photo below), the furniture is low-tech: comfortable, simple and economical. Inflatable tents can be used for birthdays or simply forums. The Agency Franklin Azzi Architecture has rehabilitated all while respecting the aesthetics of the building and moving its use.
With a budget of some 5.7 million for project management and on a surface of 11 000 square meters, the planning of the city of Lille, successful bid. The elegant ashlar brick and iron structure are restored.

Not without humor, the organizers have decided to make the recovery of water that feed into the toilet, support for the drawings of the artist Slovenian Marjetica Potrc. As part of the festival "XXL Europe, Gare Saint-Sauveur welcomes well the "Midi \ Midi Berlin" and "MIDI \ Midi Warsaw, with, among others, the German side, the videos' Berlin is changing faster than my heart" or the installation of Martin Liebscher and "The heart is lonely hunter "directed by young Polish artists emerging.
Hall B for hosting exhibitions, concerts and flea markets on Sundays in the way of the tradition of Lille, emphasis was placed on the Hotel Europa. These five rooms created by artists are fully available to the public of the Gare Saint-Sauveur. An invited audience to produce the culture he wants.
