Janus chair is a prototype designed by a Los Angeles industrial designer, Jang Yoon. At first glance it looks like a futuristic stool, at second glance it’s more than a stool. When someone folds up the seat, Janus chair comes to life!.
A beautiful transformation concept which will be exhibited during the ICFF International Contemporary Furniture Fair in N.York from 16-19 May 2009

In Greek mythology, Janus (or Ianus) was the god of gates, doors, doorways, beginnings and endings. His most prominent remnants in modern culture are his namesakes: the month of January, which begins the new year, and the janitor, who is a caretaker of doors and halls. Most of Janus busts have two faces, so Jang Yoon may named his chair Janus, because of it's two functions.
