Vas Pittas is a Melbourne based designer focusing on sculpture, object and furniture design who draws inspiration from graphic design to produce exciting visual forms and configurations. Vas uses ‘Play’ within his designs for interactive engagement by designing multifunctional and versatile products.

Central to Vas’ inspiration and thought process is his rural Greek heritage. Ideas for his designs are often drawn from his grandparents’ home where he finds objects around the home and garden substituted for other things or made from recycled goods. ‘Work with what you’ve got,’ is the mentality in his grandparents home, with nothing ever being regarded as waste.

His future vision is to ‘design, make and play’, by blending traditional materials and manufacturing techniques with computer aided technologies through collaboration with local manufacturers.
