Gemis Luciani is an Italian artist who currently lives and works between Italy and Berlin. His research is focused on "the expressive potential of an act of formal reduction." He designs by manipulating, de-composing and re-assembling common objects: magazines, phone books and flyers. Then he reconfigures them into newly built shapes and surfaces which seek to investigate the abstract elements of visual depiction. Luciani graduated with a degree in sculpture at Fine Arts’ Academy in Bologna; he then went on to study photography at Art Kunst Istitute in Enschede (NL) and collaborate with the Italian theater director Teatrino Clandestino as a set designer and performer.
