Doshi Levien

Internationally acclaimed design duo, Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, founded Doshi Levien in 2001 when Tom Dixon commissioned them to design tableware for Habitat. The two met at the Royal Collect of Art in London and share a complementing background in design which has honed Nipa’s “astute eye for visual culture” and Jonathan’s “industrial precision”: Nipa studied design at the National institute of Design in Ahmedabad (which was founded upon the manifesto of Charles and Ray Eames) meanwhile, Jonathan studied fine cabinet making and industrial design.

Their work celebrates the melding of “cultures, technology, industrial design and fine craftsmanship,” as it says on their website. Doshi Levien have collaborated with industry greats such as Moroso, B&B Italia, Cappelini and Swarovski among others and their work has been featured in museums and cultural institutions.
