From respective backgrounds studying Visual Art and English Literature, Peter Middleton and James Spinney have been collaborating since 2010. Both are graduates of the Documentary Campus Masterschool. Together they have directed award-winning fiction and documentary shorts, as well as commercial for such brands as YouTube, Skype and Peroni. They co-directed RAINFALL, which won the Best Short Documentary Award at Hot Docs 2013 and was nominated for the ICA Experimental Film Award. Their short film NOTES ON BLINDNESS, commissioned by the New York Times, premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and won the Documentary Award at Encounters Short Film Festival.
