A leader in the emerging European style, flamboyant and humorous, Hayon continues to be one of the most celebrated Spanish designers, recognisable from his visual language which tactfully oscillates between artistic expression and product design.

''Designers tend to take themselves a bit too seriously. I have a lot of fun of doing what I do. And I think that is evident in my work''. The designer’s love of what he does is perhaps best exemplified in the terracotta vaseswhich complete the Gardenia collection. Simple and elegant, they look like they have leapt out of a child's drawing thereby transforming an archetypical vase into something original and utterly charming.  

The ‘Gardenia’ collection is produced by BD Barcelona Design, a name widely recognisable in the world of design. Since 1972, the company has produced collections such as Grcic, Lovegrove, Mackintosh, Mendini, Sottsass, Dali and Gaudi. The company has also been recognised for its efforts through the Premio Nacional de Diseño (1989), the European Community Design Prize (1990) and the Red Dot Design Award ‘Best of the Best’ in 2011.
