New York-based photographer, Gail Albert Halaban, began the discourse into her art at the Rhode Island School of Design (photography major) and Brown University. She graduated in May 1992 having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Honors History of Art with her thesis: “The Evolution of Social Documentary Photography.” In 1996 she went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Yale University.

She has since gone on to receive a number of awards and recognitions for her work, such as the Top Ten Shortlist at the Sony World Photography Awards in 2013. In 2014 she became the recipient of the Phase One: Sponsorship of Remote Photography Project which has fueled her personal project, Out My Window, by enabling her to engage the use of friend’s windows around the world by sending them her camera and controlling it from her home in NYC, through the use of Capture One technology.
