Cyprus-based architect, Michalis Georgiou, was born in July 1979. In 2005 he graduated with a MArch from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and in 2006 he received an MSc in Adaptive Architecture and Computation from the Bartlett Architecture School, of the University College of London. He is currently pursuing his PhD from NTUA and is an assistant professor at the Department of Architecture (ARC) of the University of Nicosia in the field of Digital Design and Fabrication.

In 2005 he worked in Athens with E. Constandinidou Architects and from 2006-2009 he became first a design architect and then a design analyst of the Specialist’s Modeling Group, at Foster+Partners in London. He is a registered Architect in ARB/UK and at ETEK/Cyprus. In his work and research, he focuses on the application of computational tools in order to assist and enrich the design and construction process.

In 2009, he co-founded HUB Design Platform which began as a collective initiative between Michalis and Przemek Jaworski and now operates as a blog promoting open platform discussion as well as a place to share ideas on Parametric Design and Generative Architecture. Michalis is in the process of completing and has already completed a number of impressive works which vary in scope and size—from large private residences, to cultural centers—including the innovative, Apostle Peter and St. Helen Chapel in Pafos, Cyprus in which he merged two forms of Byzantine church architecture to create a new style.
