Milan Design Week 2025 Guide, Curated & Mapped

Words by Costas Voyatzis

Milan, Italy

A cardinal rule of enjoying your Milan Design Week pilgrimage is accepting that you won’t see everything—probably not even all the must-sees. Believing otherwise will only lead to unnecessary stress and inevitable FOMO. That said, some kind of itinerary is essential for making the most of the event.

Of course, with hundreds of exhibitions, product launches, showrooms, and installations scattered across the city, even the most basic itinerary is a challenge—let alone one that covers the week’s highlights. Fear not, we’ve done the legwork! We’ve sifted through countless press releases, statements, and announcements to handpick the ones we simply can’t miss.

Grouped into four areas based on location, our curated list—complete with a handy map—is, first and foremost, our own roadmap, but we hope it also helps fellow visitors navigate MDW25’s exhilarating design-scape.

Our shortlist excludes Salone del Mobile.Milano—tackling its 2,000 exhibitors and 148 brands would require a dedicated guide of its own. Nevertheless, we want to highlight three site-specific installations from the fair’s Cultural Programme that are well worth a visit. At Fiera Milano Rho, French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon’s Villa Héritage (Halls 13-15) explores the relationship between heritage and contemporary creativity through a multi-sensory experience, while Italian film director Paolo Sorrentino’s La dolce attesa (Halls 22-24) reimagines a hospital waiting room as an existential metaphor, celebrating the beauty of slowing down. Meanwhile, American theatre director Robert Wilson presents Mother at the Museo Pietà Rondanini – Castello Sforzesco, a mesmerising 30-minute sequence of music, lights, and images created in collaboration with Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.

Oh, and if you haven’t booked your dinner reservations yet, now’s the time—MDW waits for no one, and neither do Milan’s best restaurants. Our tiny Milan City Guide has you covered for that, too.

See you there!

And for those not making it to Milan, stay tuned for our full review.

Thought for Humans”, the Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025 communication campaign by Dentsu Creative Italy, photographed by Bill Durgin — a visual reflection on design’s profound connection to the human experience.
