Yatzer’s creative director Costas Voyatzis, is curating an art exhibition at the Pop-Up, "Today You Are in Paradise With Me," and is bringing together an intoxicating array of Greek and International artists to enthuse Mykonos' worldly crowd of visitors and to complement the shifting array of designer fashions (such as Mary Katrantzou, Aquazzura, Jonathan Simkhai, Christian Louboutin) that will be sold in succession in the concept Pop-Up.
The art is an homage to the utopian concept of "Paradise," a celebratory destination that merges the celestial and the terrestrial, where tropical colors explode into an array of energy and there is no distinction between races and borders, between the tangible and the intangible. Each artist has thus been chosen because they represent a part or the whole of the paradisiacal concept.
American artist, Caroline Larsen, (courtesy of Dio Horia Gallery and the artist) brings colors, textures and patterns to life evoking "a celebratory tropical frenzy." Meanwhile, the tropical-imbued prints of artist, Philippos Theodorides' illustrations also evoke the same tropical thought origins. Versaweiss' innovative prints of enormous tropical birds poking out of black and white landscapes, as well as their pin-up palm tree girls (all courtesy of CAN Christina Androulidaki gallery and the artists) seem to bridge the earthly with the extraordinary. On the other hand, George Vaviloussakis' acrylic on canvas paintings don't need any "rose colored glasses" to be idealized, and photographer Yiorgos Kordakis' seascape photo illustrates a familiar version of summertime. On the other side of the spectrum, the embroidered art collaboration of photographer Vangelis Kyris and Anatoli Georgiev celebrates the twelve inhabitants of paradise according to ancient Greek lore; the anthropomorphized beauty of the natural elements; as well as the strength and identity of indigenous peoples from around the world. Jeff Koons-inspired resin Balloon Dog sculptures (courtesy of Mamush Gallery) bring a glamorously animated flare to the idealized form of "Man's Best Friend" and seem to prove an animal lovers belief that our furry friends represent the goodness of a little bit of "heaven on earth."
So, if you're also dreaming of a summer paradise escape, come join us on Mykonos at the Enny Monaco Pop-Up Store till September 1st 2017.
