Nestled in the idyllic French village of Chambolle-Musigny, Bellevigne is more than just a boutique hotel—it’s a curated experience that seamlessly intertwines the art of hospitality with Burgundy’s rich viticulture. The 37-room hotel is housed in an 18th-century manor house, soulfully renovated by Paris-based designer Jordane Arrivetz to honour the property’s vernacular heritage. Featuring a dining courtyard envisioned as a village square, a cellar stocked with over 1,000 references, and a spa located in the verdant grounds, complete with an outdoor swimming pool, Bellevigne exudes timeless elegance while embracing the vibrant rhythms of modern life, offering a high-end yet unpretentious experience rooted in conviviality and authenticity.

Opened in October 2024 by hospitality group Les Hôtels (Très) Particuliers, the hotel serves as a love letter to the region’s legendary terroir—the Chambolle-Musigny AOC which was established in 1936, and includes 24 Premiers Crus—marking the first in a visionary concept aiming to showcase France’s most beautiful wine routes.

The property’s transformation pays homage to its history as a wine merchant’s home. Oak panelling and bespoke carpentry complement the manor’s stone walls and timber beams, imbuing the countryside setting with a sense of timeless refinement, while earthy hues and floral motifs echo the region's landscape. The house is filled with books, artworks and objects sourced by keen-eyed antique dealers creating a sense of place, while bespoke pieces like the glossy green reception desk add playful touches marrying rustic charm with a contemporary flair.

The hotel’s 37 rooms each tell their own story, with architectural features such as exposed beams, high ceilings, and private terraces overlooking either the gardens or the village rooftops. The decor eschews opulence in favour of an understated luxury that feels distinctly French. Fine materials—soft linens, crafted woodwork, and inviting textiles—perfectly complement bespoke pieces such as canopy beds that reimagine traditional furniture, alongside a curated selection of vintage artworks, photographs, and objects, making each room a personalized haven. Presented in three colour schemes that echo the hues of Burgundy’s vineyards—namely deep reds, warm teals, and rich olives—the rooms reflect the essence of the surrounding landscape. Bathrooms, adorned with retro-style striped tiling, strike a balance between theatricality and romance, evoking a sense of indulgent retreat.

The hotel’s heart of course beats in its kitchen, a place for socializing as much as cooking, where guests can congregate around a long island-cum-dining counter. Adjacent to the kitchen, the oenophile library offers a quiet space to explore Burgundy’s wine heritage through an impressive collection of books, while a private lounge, provides a serene setting for intimate gatherings. For oenophiles, the beautifully restored vaulted cellar—now a tasting room—is a sanctuary of discovery. Led by an affable sommelier, tastings unfold around an organically shaped table, fostering both knowledge and camaraderie.

The homelike ambiance extends seamlessly to Bellevigne’s restaurant, where relaxed elegance defines the experience with thick wooden tables, large buffet and dish cabinets, and an inviting outdoor patio setting the tone for convivial gatherings. The menu pays homage to local culinary traditions, offering refined takes on classics such as boeuf bourguignon and escargots de Bourgogne, all crafted with creativity and finesse. Unsurprisingly for a wine-centric retreat, meals are paired with the cellar’s 1,000 plus references, curated to elevate every dining experience. The wine journey continues at the intimate wine bar, a cozy space where guests can savour tapas-style dishes thoughtfully designed to complement the nuanced flavours of Burgundy’s vintages.
