Berndnaut Smilde was born in Groningen in 1978 and now lives and works in Amsterdam. He was educated at the Frank Mohr Institute in Hanzehogeschool, Groningen, and went on to receive a BA in Fine Art from Minerva Academy. Smilde's work consists of installations, sculptures and photos.

Berndnaut Smilde was born in Groningen in 1978 and now lives and works in Amsterdam. He was educated at the Frank Mohr Institute in Hanzehogeschool, Groningen, and went on to receive a BA in Fine Art from Minerva Academy. Smilde's work consists of installations, sculptures and photos. He is interested in the temporal nature of construction and deconstruction. His work has been featured in major museum collections around the world, including the Smithsonian, and in such magazines as TIME.
