We are well into the change of season with the leaves on the trees turning yellow, orange and brown. We slowly see the robust trees becoming somewhat thinner as they lose their foliage. For Raw Color and the studio MKGK / Maarten Kolk and Guus Kusters, trees are anything but static. They are perpetual agents of transformation as they give us the opportunity to experience light, shadow, shade, wind and the change of seasons. For those who live somewhere where the seasons might not be experienced through this convention, they miss the immense amount of pleasure of witnessing the beauty of nature. For those who do experience it, it is simply magical. This observation led to a translated illusion of trees in different materials that represent life and our ever changing cycle of life.
Invited by MU, Temporary Trees was a project which took place during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven (22-30 October 2011) as part of Make a Forest, an international platform, founded by Joanna van der Zanden and Anne van der Zwaag.
