Gerard McGuickin is a passionate freelance design writer from Belfast. He studied psychology at the city’s Queen’s University, before moving to London to pursue an MSc. Following a number of successful years working in London in jobs with a psychology-related focus, life events conspired to reorient Gerard’s career journey. He opted to pursue his passion for writing and design and in 2011, started Walnut Grey Design, his popular manifesto of good design. Gerard returned to Belfast in 2012, rediscovering a city that is increasingly dynamic and cosmopolitan.

Gerard’s style is urbane, punctilious and urban. His writing offers an intelligent viewpoint on interiors, architecture, objects and lifestyle. He is part of a European-wide bloggers alliance, an initiative comprising prominent design bloggers from different European nations. Gerard places a fundamental emphasis on learning from and with others and sharing this knowledge: ''For me, contributing to Yatzer is a perfect opportunity to uncover, examine and write about design in its continually evolving, intriguing and life-enhancing state. Yatzer has much to satiate every variety of design appetite.''
