You can almost smell the salty breeze of Italian shores in the light-flooded, soaring space of St. Cecilia restaurant, chef and restaurateur Ford Fry’s fifth restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. Situated in the city’s affluent Buckhead neighbourhood, the sprawling, nearly 1,000-square-meter bistro was designed by the studio of Meyer Davis with a classic, upscale European aesthetic in mind imbued with a sense of Mediterranean warmth and comfort. Anchored around a spectacular central bar are the different dining areas, including a bar-high communal table with stools, a darker lounge area and a mezzanine private dining room, as well as the open kitchen and a preparation area.

Throughout the space we encounter a rich and layered design approach that combines quirky and rustic details with a modern style: against a backdrop of subdued cream and natural hues, modern furniture fills the main dining area paired with shiny tiled surfaces, marble, reclaimed wood and even dark steel. A collage of different textures and surfaces that sets the mood just right, this intricate play of sensations is peppered with found objects such as Italian cookbooks, vintage items and other curiosities. As for the menu, it is filled with delicate Italian flavours, with an emphasis on fish and in-house freshly made pasta.
