The team from Estudio m Barcelona developed the interior design as well as the identity for the ‘Eyescream & Friends’ ice cream shop on Paseo Joan de Borbo in Barcelona. Introducing a unique twist to ice cream as we know it, Eyescream & Friends ‘ice cream’ is a shaved Taiwanese style ice cream made with Italian gelato and tastes like something between a sorbet and ice cream. Not only is the combination unique but also foreign to most people as it comes with sauces and toppings. Due to the complexity of the product and its layers, Estudio m Barcelona decided to deconstruct its identity (‘Eyescream’ is a play on the word ‘ice cream’) and separated the ice cream and its toppings. Visually, they developed a family of monster characters that articulate the variety of flavors and combinations. Playing with a defined color palette and emphasizing the character’s eyes, the family of monsters is both approachable and full of personality. A pair of eyes is then placed on top of the ice cream that is served to customers. The result is playful, simple and colorful.

The interiors were kept simple and natural in order to allow the colors of the brand to stand out and become the protagonist. Using particle board, plywood and cardboard, Estudio m Barcelona has shaped an honest interior that makes the customer focus on the product itself.
