The creative’s at Studio Job of Belgium whose work we’ve seen before on Yatzer, have customized the interior of Firmship 42, a private boat ‘dressed’ in shades of white and gray, teak and Corian and marine iconography!  The new Firmship 42 would best be described as a floating work of art which has created a new nautical tradition, or so we hope!  Firmship 42 is a classic boat with a modern touch; its modern creative design compliments its traditional form, without sacrificing any of today’s functional elements.   Firmship 42 is a boat which radiates, with its outstanding gray detailing, “from the railing and the bollards to the sundeck and even the throttle.”

The bold uplifted exterior form of Firmship 42 has been designed by nautical architect Willem Nieland.  The exterior form is dissimilar in a contrasting manner with the refined and sophisticated interior of Studio Job, who has used delicate symbols of the nautical past, but with an unexpected twist.  Upholstery and a stained glass window which divides the cabin and the pilot house are decorated with anchors, Moby Dick, skulls-and-crossbones iconography.

Despite its modern manifestation the boat has not lost the traditional craftsmanship which highlights and reinforces its everlasting design.  Teak has been used for the doors, the outdoor furniture and the interior finish; yet the wood used for the cabin’s interior has been treated in such a way that the grain of the individual planks is impeccably fixed.  Even the captain’s seat has been designed especially for Firmship 42.  The comfort and modernity in Firmship 42 is warm, welcoming and convivial with a touch of luxury and lavishness.

Firmship 42 is currently available as a 42-foot boat; rumor has it that it was originally commissioned by Casper Vissers, founder of Moooi, for his family’s personal use but there are now plans to cooperate on a 60-foot version under the same brand.  Whatever its length may be, Firmship 42 is a boat that emits maritime tradition and the enduring attractiveness and elegance of a floating work of art.
