At this year's ICFF in New York city, there were a few newbies. Although they were towards the back of the hall, the presence of the Czech Republic was fully visible at ICFF 2010. One of the representatives of this great country was The Process Company, a furniture and interiors company active in the European markets and looking to grow a global presence. Their concept furniture line is playful, dynamic and interactive.

Process utilizes a minimal palette to allow the lines and form to take center stage. From a table with storage at its entire perimeter to furniture that serves as a fitness center right at your home space, Process integrates an element of movement to every piece in their collection. From walking around a table to grab an A5 size paper to working out and stretching with the drawers, the collection quietly forces us to be active with our furniture. Could furniture improve our health, well being and change how we approach comfort, home and the workplace? We sure hope so!

The Treasury Table is clean and organized. It provides compartments in various sizes at the perimeter of the entire table. A translucent mat glass top allows visibility of pens, envelopes and paper A5 to A2 sizes. An all in one furniture piece to any designer.

The Home Fitness Collection is strong and practical. Utilizing black tubes that take part of the storage divisions, the unit allows the individual to support his/her weight while doing pull-ups, sit-ups and stretching routines to better serve their health.

The Cheeky Boxes are lightweight and stackable units that could serve as a coffee table, side table or bookcase. Different colors give it a young and clean look and its shape gives hint of retro graphics.

I really like the idea of the Home Fitness Collection.

Hmmm, who's really going to flip over their furniture to do a few dips? Fit people go to the gym, lazy people (me included) find it difficult to switch on the wii fit.

This concept furniture is all the more interesting because it is not solely conceptual: the design, the visual aspect is highly successful too. In a small studio, the table that becomes a fitness suite would make a lot of sense but I am doubtful too that people will do this on a regular basis. http://davidikus.blogspot.com/
